Yuyu Za Zang is a Chinese/Korean restaurant in Oakland. It specializes in a Korean noodle dish called Za Zang Myung. It also has other kinds of food other than noodle but the noodles is what they’re known for. There is a recipe for Za Zang Myung here that I did.
This is my go-to place when I crave for the za zang myung. If you don’t know what za zang myung is, it is a black bean noodle dish that consists of black bean, onions, cucumber and pork. It’s more of a sauce over noodles instead of broth.
This is a perfect meal for a hot day when you are craving noodles. What makes this place stand out over the rest is the flavor of their sauce. It’s always consistent and not watery like other places I’ve eaten. Sometimes at other restaurants that serve this dish, the sauce starts to become watery which makes it bland and hard to eat. Also the noodles here are very firm. It’s never soggy and the firmness is always consistent.
Another dish I always get is the Tang Sue Yuk. It’s deep fried beef that is served with a side of sweet and sour sauce that is hot. This dish is YUMMY! If you haven’t tried it, it’s a must, especially at this place. After ordering these two dishes, you will be full. But if you have a larger party, you should try their poached dumplings and Zam Pong.
Give this place a try and you will not be disappointed!
