Pho Tan Hoa is another Vietnamese restaurant located in the Tenderloin district of San Francisco. The Tenderloin has a lot of good Vietnamese restaurants and this one is probably one of the best. This restaurant is located right next to Pho Ha Nam Hinh.
Pho Tan Hoa is actually fairly clean and has very friendly service for a Vietnamese restaurant. The broth is very good at this place. One of the better broths I have had. I’ve eaten here twice and after just eating it for the first time, I told my friends that this is probably one of the best Pho’s I’ve had. That is some pretty high praise for people that know me since I eat more pho than anyone I know.
The broth is very clean but yet very flavorful which I always look for in my pho. It didn’t taste like it had MSG but instead it tasted like it was a homemade, slow cooked broth. The noodles were also very good. Not soggy and had firm consistency. The beef that came with it was tender but not the best I’ve had. This was another place that gave you a extra bowl of broth to cook your beef in before putting it into your bowl, which I enjoyed. Another plus at this restaurant was the portions. The portions are huge! Sometimes I would need to get extra noodles even with a large but this place there is no need to do that. If you have a hungry appetite, get the large and it will fill you up. Even the medium size is pretty decent portion.
I would definitely say give this place a try as it has instantly gone up my Pho list. This is probably my top 3 Pho restaurants on my list and I will be definitely coming back here.
