I first tried this instant noodle a few years back when my friend gave me a few boxes from his work. He knew I loved Beef Noodle Soup so he said to give this a try and let him know what I think. Let me first say, I’m glad he introduced me to these instant noodles! This isn’t your ordinary packaged instant noodle but instead it is packaged in it’s own bowl (you can see from the pictures).

Beef noodle soup is a staple food in Taiwan. Beef noodle soup in general is a Chinese dish but the Taiwanese perfected and invented the red braised beef noodle soup which many people crave for. You can see my rendition of the Taiwanese Beef Noodle recipe here.

So back to the review. You don’t need a pot or even boiling water for this instant noodle. It comes with it’s own bowl and you microwave it with a little bit of hot water. However, be careful with the contents when taking it out of the microwave because it is VERY hot. You have to microwave it for quite some time.

Here’s a picture of the noodles out of the box:

So after you take it out of it’s perforated box, you add about 1/4 cup of water to it and put the lid back on. You put it in the microwave for about 5 minutes and then you have to stir the noodles. After stirring the noodles evenly, you put it back in the microwave for another 3 minutes or so. After that, you take it out carefully from the microwave and pour another 1/4 cup of hot water in it and it’s all ready to eat!

And you might be wondering what’s my verdict on this instant noodle soup? I would give this a 10/10 for instant noodle! Yup, it’s really that good. I am always craving for a good bowl of Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup in the San Francisco area and can never find anything that’s that great. I would have to go to the South Bay to find a good bowl of Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup. This instant noodle is actually better than a lot of the restaurants I’ve tried in SF. The noodles have a very nice chewy texture to it. The broth is what actually makes this stand out. With no MSG, this broth packs a bold beef broth flavor. The meat it comes with isn’t bad either. A little bit on the dry side but they give you three huge pieces with fat on them still.

However, this great bowl of instant comes with a price; literally. One of these instant frozen noodle bowls cost about $3.99. But with that said, it’s a lot more filling than your packaged instant noodles. It has real meat and they’re generous with the noodles. This certain review is for the Beef Noodle Soup with Tomato but the company, Wei-Chuan, makes a lot of different bowls. You can try their other flavors/ingredients such as spicy beef, pork & leaf mustard, regular stewed beef, etc.

I’d love to hear your opinion on these bowls if you have ever tried them. Let me know what you guys think!
